About Howard F. Weiner

In his latest book, Deadology Volume II, Howard continues his passionate exploration of the Grateful Dead’s archive by selecting thirty-three of the band’s definitive jam anthems and tracing their evolution while shining a light on the noteworthy performances of these tunes. Howard’s other critical studies focusing on the live output of the Grateful Dead and the Jerry Garcia Band include, Deadology: The 33 Essential Dates of Grateful Dead History, Positively Garcia: Reflections of the JGB, and Grateful Dead 1977: The Rise of Terrapin Nation.

Combining expertise on his muses, Howard published Dylan and the Grateful Dead: A Tale of Twisted of Fate in 2017 and Tangled Up in Tunes: Ballad of a Dylanhead in 2012. Dylan and the Grateful Dead chronicles how these legendary musicians influenced each other through the years. Tangled Up in Tunes is the author’s memoir focusing on his three decades of following the Grateful Dead and then Bob Dylan on the road.

A resident of New York City for the last twenty-five years, Howard pours his metropolitan experiences in to his witty works, The Dire Wolf of Pelham Parkway: Sales Survivor and Tangled Up in New York: Shakedown on the Streets. Howard created and hosted Visions of Dylan, a series of two-hour programs that aired on this 99.5 FM, WBAI, and he received an MFA Degree in Creative Writing from The New School.
